Aftermath
After being stung, Joey is lectured first by his sister, then by his baby brother, before Aunt Emily steps up heroically. However, she, too, falls victim before finally chasing the bee away. Then there is shoo fly pie.

June tells Joey what he should have done, much to Joey's chagrin.
Bobby says "ba, ba, ba" and Mom interprets in a cutesy voice "That's right Bobby, the bee stung Joey!" Gouache on Bristol.
Aunt Emily confronts the bee with a fly swatter, in that there wasn't a bee swatter handy, as June, Mom and Joey watch from the safety of the inside side of the screen door. Meanwhile, Bobby discovers his belly button.
"The bee, seeing his opportunity, swooped in and stung Aunt Emily on the end of her nose. " Gouache on watercolor paper.
"The bee, sensing that Aunt Emily really meant business this time and deciding he had best not tempt fate any more, turned and darted off, getting very small, shrinking quickly to a distant dot, and then disappearing altogether out of sight very fast..."
In the end, shoo fly pie helps - a little.
