Streetlights on Casteel Road, Gouache, 13"x19", 2001

This is a street near where I live.  I took walks there many nights.  There are two large post oaks that reach out over the sidewalk and road.  This framed the view of the street lights that tip slightly one way or another as they recede in the distance and disappear around a bend in the road. As usual, I painted from memory and sketches done on site.  The organic curvy form of the post oak leaf is repeated in the shadows cast by the tree.
