Moonlit Mountain

Oil on Canvas, 1988, 28"x37.5"
I had observed the feminine form in some mountains on the way from Marietta to Dahlonega, a trip Val and I were taking almost every week for several years. One evening the full moon and solitary star rendered the scene with a steel blue sky against an almost silhouette of the mountains, with just a hint of moonlight highlighting the peaks. I painted this from memory, working very quickly, concentrating on getting the blue and balancing the harmonies of the forms.
